What is it?
Television Personalities - Mummy, Your Not Watching Me (WHAAM!, BIG 1)
Original copy of the second album by one of my absolute favourite bands ever. It's amazing. It's got Adventure Playground on it. And Painting By Numbers. And If I Could Write Poetry. And, fuck, Magnificent Dreams. I loved it so much I bought it twice, but am now letting go of my other copy. Dan Treacy was my absolute hero when I moved to London a million years ago, but unfortunately, on the (depressingly frequent) occasions that I met him in the 1990s, he was well into 'Disaster Dan' mode, hawking stolen goods to feed his heroin habit. He had a stroke a few years back and is at least being looked after now. A genius though - as you can see from the album title - not top of the class at spelling. Someone needs to write a book about him...
Condition
Sleeve: VG+: Tiny tear at the top of the sleeve where the record has bashed into the cover (this is pretty much standard for copies of this LP - the sleeves were made on the cheap). Also, on the back cover (see second pic) it looks like someone has written a message to 'Margit' in blue felt tip which has rubbed off. I attempted to do cutie things like giving TV Personalities records to girls when I was a teenager and can say - definitively - that it doesn't work.
Record: EXCELLENT: If it has been played more than three times I would be amazed. Evidently 'Margit' (see above) wasn't that impressed with this brilliant gift and moved on to hunkier boys who liked 'better' music. Maybe even boys from the private school who would let her wear their rugby shirts to the pub. And she could have had a wonderful, feeble, nerdy TV Personalities fan for a boyfriend. Poor misguided girl.
TRUST MY GRADINGS; I worked in a top London collectors shop for years, and my VG is most people's MINT on eBay.
I recycle packaging when possible; it's cheap and also the right thing to do, people.
