the TWILIGHTS
” THE BEST OF THE TWILIGHTS “
…vinyl LP…Long out of print, original copy of their 1969 Australian 14-track compilation…includes 3 tracks (the first three listed here) which were NOT on the 1977 “The Way They Played” compilation on EMI….tracks are:
BAD BOY
(one of their most rockin’ garage cuts, with great guitar!)
BABY LET ME TAKE YOU HOME
(killer garage version with brooding feedback lurking beneath the vocal track most of the way through – ‘B’ side of their rare, unsuccessful 4th single
TELL ME GOODBYE
(‘B’ side of their second last 45 - Terry Britten beat-pop ballad)
IF SHE FINDS OUT
(great Beatles-esque Terry Britten original)
IT’S DARK
(written by guitarist Peter Brideoake, this was the best track on their first album and the ‘B’ side of the “Bad Boy” single – a totally brilliant and ultra-melodic psych-pop track…it’s so damn catchy!!!..and with great psych guitar…reminds of some of the better Hollies cuts [“Evolution” era], or, to be relatively obscure, the stunning “Here To Stay” by Detroit’s the Wanted…)
NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK
(great version…a huge hit here)
YOU’VE GOT SOUL
(‘A’ side of their first 1967 single)
WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE WAY I LIVE
(a great version of the Hollies track)
ALWAYS
(Terry Britten original – ‘A’ side of the first of their three 1968 singles – lite psych ballad…but very good all the same)
COMIN’ ON DOWN
(excellent psych cut with phasing [a la “The Real Thing”]…)
THE WAY THEY PLAY
(fantastic psychedelic pop cut with trippy sitar)
CATHY COME HOME
(a great baroque psych cut with superb guitar, and sitar too)
9:50
(good UK-style melodic psych-pop!))
YOUNG GIRL
(classic example of melodic beat-pop) On H.M.V. (cat. #: OELP-9777 ).....CONDITION: cover/record ( EX-/VG+[+] ) ……The letter ‘R’ has been written in red at the top of the back cover (pretty inobtrusive)…….

CLICK ON “view seller’s other auctions” ABOVE FOR SIMILAR ITEMS...I list lots of punk/garage (60’s –> 90’s)/power pop/guitar pop...plus industrial/experimental rarities from down this way...(admittedly you’ll find all sorts of other guff too)...
POSTAGE
(it's not too bad while the Australian $ is weak against the US$)LP: first class airmail to North America = US$7.50
: South America/UK/Europe/Africa = US$8
: Japan/Asia = US$6
: New Zealand = US$5...
: within Australia: AU$6
..postage costs come down drastically per item if you happen to win more than one item…(for instance, winning 2 x LPs/12”s means adding just US$3 extra postage for the second)…
PAYMENT
OUTSIDE AUSTRALIA: You can pay by Money Order (you need to add a US$3 exchange fee for a Western Union m/o or a US Postal m/o....or a US$6 exchange fee for any other US$ money order)...or...CASH (MUST be in a registered envelope…ONLY)...or...via Bidpay (you need to add a US$3 exchange fee for payments via Bidpay)...or...you can pay directly into our account.….OR…you can use Paypal…IF you like…BUT…you should know that Paypal charge we foreigners (i.e. any non-American inhabitants) a hidden exchange rate fee which equates to 7% (here in Australia, at least - it WAS 14%, then 11% until early Dec.2002) - so it’s not as bad as it was, and still a tad cheeky and unfair - but, all the same, IF you’re prepared to cover that, you CAN use Paypal (it still works out cheaper [and obviously faster] than Bidpay or registering cash, for any amount below US$100 )…it’s up to you, but PLEASE don’t think I condone their business practices – the other options are there. [My alternative, otherwise, is to allow them to take that much from every item…and they do not disclose that this is what they do. If you don’t agree with covering for this (and why should you!), please consider another option.] IN AUSTRALIA:Pay by Money Order, Bank Cheque, Personal Cheque (allow 5 days for clearance),...or cash (again, MUST be in a registered envelope). WE MAIL OUT FROM AUSTRALIA EVERY DAY.
PACKING: We pride ourselves with our packaging of parcels for their swift trip to your front door!...we have special strong card packing boxes for sending 7"s, LPs, CDs, (strong tubes for posters) and add card inserts to keep your item stable...so it'll arrive in the exact same condition as it left us.
