TWO EXTREMELY SCARCE early '20s record labels are on offer today, a "TRIUMPH" and a "FAMOUS." Shows that slapping a superlative on a label does NOT guarantee an escape from obscurity.
TRIUMPH 1005 / 1006 MAJESTIC DANCE ORCHESTRA: "STELLA" / MISSOURI JAZZ HOUNDS: "OH HAROLD!" A thoroughly obscure West Coast label, made by the "Harris Record Company, Hollywood, California." I've never seen or heard of a "Harris" record produced in Hollywood, or anyplace else! This make is so little-known, it does NOT have a listing in Brian Rust's otherwise comprehensive book, "American Record Labels."
FAMOUS 3093 SAXOPHONE SEXTETTE: "WANNA" and "BOW-WOW BLUES" "Famous" was made by Paramount records of Grafton Wisconsin. A subsidiary label, it lasted only a few years (1921-24) and was barely sold and poorly distributed. Out in Hollywood, in the '30s, Paramount Pictures used the "Famous" label whenever a record was shown in one of their movies (see photo, from "I'm No Angel," with Mae West). However, there is NO connection between either Paramount company or either "Famous" label!
These original ca. 1922 "Triumph" and "Famous" records are nominally in V condition; they may play better.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
