Release date: February 1971.  Recording dates: Late 1970 except “Won’t You Try” (Mid 1970).

On offer here is an EXTREMELY RARE original issue of the only album by Sydney-based group, TYMEPIECE.  This album was released in February 1971 and was deleted from the Festival Records catalogue by August 1971.  This is my last remaining copy and is in STUNNING condition.  It is effectively in the same condition as you would have purchased it from a music store in 1971.  A true NEAR MINT copy and possibly the best copy on this planet!

“Sweet Release” is a fine progressive rock album and undeniably one of the best from downunder.  There is a mixture of styles from heavy keyboard-based prog (“Why?”, “I Love, You Love” & “Shake Off”), to pastoral rock with an American west coast sound (“Sweet Release”, “Won’t You Try” & “Take Me Back”).

Glenn Bland, Alan ‘Olly’ Oloman, Brian ‘Felix’ Wilkinson and Colin McAulay had previously been members of THE BLACK DIAMONDS; the Lithgow band that issued two ferocious GARAGE PUNK singles on Festival Records, “See the Way” b/w “I Want, Need, Love You” (December 1966) & “Outside Lookin’ In” b/w “Not This Time” (March 1967).  Members of TYMEPIECE also appeared on THE LOVE MACHINE’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” single (September 1968).  I have included YouTube links to my favourite LP cuts below.
