Talking Heads - "Speaking In Tongues"
1983
12" LP
Sire Records
Clear vinyl!
Vinyl: M
Cover: VG+
When Talking Heads released their 1983 LP "Speaking in Tongues," they released two distinct versions: the standard cardboard cover version and the rarer Robert Rauschenberg-designed clear-case version. That rarer version is what we have here.
The case is transparent, holding a clear vinyl copy of the album; above the vinyl, on each side of the case, are collages featuring cut-up photos and the album credits.
The package looks like it has never been opened, so the vinyl is mint. The clear case, however, has yellowed with age. This is almost unavoidable with clear plastic of this vintage (the album will soon be 30 years old!).
Anyway, it’s a very cool arty-fact, a joining of the greatest pop artist of the 20th century with one of the most distinctive bands to emerge out of New York during the CBGB’s era.
