Probably the best ever compilation of early 60s UK Motown hits.

The vinyl is in nice, very clean condition with a few marks to show for it's age. There are some light clicks and crackles along the way but these are only really noticeable between tracks and on the run in and out.   

These 20-track albums always had some noise even when they were new, owing to the very fine groove - remember K-Tel? - but there is no playwear, the high end is beautifully sharp and it's pressed nicely on-centre.

There is no spindle wear at all, no label damage and the outer sleeve has no splits or tears, just a moisture stain on the bottom right hand corner - see pic.

Not mint but a nice, clear-sounding copy.

I hope that with all the renewed interest in vinyl, 'they' will re-issue this album together with the rarer volume 2 although the dilemma will be then whether to play them or not. Motown always sounded better on vinyl. Maybe this is why these compilations were never remastered and issued on the dreaded CD!
