The Temples released the album "Bei Mir Twist Du Schon" with Jewish melodies set to a great twist beat.  The Temples is a project by George Siravo, a famous American musician and arranger who worked with Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and other mid-20th century stars.....~
“This disc is shrouded in a veil of secrets, legends and suspicions of a rally in the spirit of Kurekhinsky Lenin-Grib. Legend has it that this record was found in the dusty archives of one of the collectors by the owner of the Solnze label Oleg Tarasov - he found, heard, was delighted (what you can understand) and published. "  “The original vinyl released by the devil knows where in 1963, according to Tarasov, has long since faded into oblivion - but still some kind of miraculous oddities of fate have preserved almost the only tape recording - it is presented on this disc. Who is Solomon Schwartz, where he came from and where he created his very good creative work - by the way - it seems impossible to establish at the present time - France, Belgium, and, of course, Odessa are among the most likely geographical areas. But this, by and large, is not so important ..  And the important thing is that even if it is a joke - he is kind - he has an honorable place in our life, and even if such an orchestra did not exist in the 60s, then surely it would have to be invented, since this music is listened to on one quite enthusiastic breathing, and personally on my shelf, boldly and deservedly shares the neighborhood with the series of Radical Jewish Culture from the Tzadik label - and this is still something that says yes. And the legend (which, however, may easily be true) gives the sound a very nice, additional color.
For those who are interested. Somehow, not so long ago, in our Guestbook, a conversation about the Solomon Schwartz orchestra of the Solomon Schwartz orchestra Solomon Schwartz (1963), which was released in 2004 by the independent Moscow label Solnze Records, was played by Jewish folklore in "twist" processing ("Bublichki", "Cigarettes", "Hava Nagila", "Yozel, Yozel", "Ba mir bistu sheyn" and others). Many did not believe that this magnificent and mysterious recording could have been made in 1963 (especially in the "stereo" version, when even the omnipotent "The Beatles" were still recorded "mono") and therefore many perceived the "recording date" of the album - "1963", as "wiring", and the very existence of Solomon Schwartz was called into question, considering that this is the work of modern musicians or even of some unknown professional - “a man-orchestra” who recorded the album alone. The album is truly magnificent and is heard in one breath. The search for information about the album was complicated by the fact that there was no single information about the orchestra itself and its leader anywhere (neither in Europe nor in the USA). Later, the truth appeared that the original material (phonogram) for the release of the CD-ROM was discovered by an old collector from the Krasnodar Territory - Nikolai Nikolayevich Pushkarsky (the same one who organized and recorded A. Severny's concert with the ans. "Kazachok" in 1979 ), but I could not find the original vinyl record. And recently I managed to find out that the Moscow collector of the rare "vinyl" Boris Simonov (the owner of the Transilvania music store) was finally able to track down and acquire the original old "vinyl" with this very record from 1967 (and not the 63rd one "reigned" mono sound), but only with the difference that on the original vinyl record, the exact same recording (with the same compositions and in the same sequence), but performed by the ensemble "THE TEMPLES" (!), and the disc is called "BEI MIR TWIST DU SCHON" - "THE TEMPLES" (Ad Lib Records - A 225, New York, 1967). That is, nowadays everyone knows the record belongs to the work of completely different musicians. Probably "THE TEMPLES" is the name of the project "session" musicians - Orchestra conducted by George Siravo - orchestra conducted by George Siravo (George Siravo, 1916-1983), a famous American jazz musician, clarinetist, alto saxophonist, arranger and composer, head of a variety swing orchestra. In the 30s - 40s, George Siravo played in renowned orchestras under the direction of Charlie Barnet and Glenn Millers, then he led the orchestra on CBS radio, and in the 50s - 60 He collaborated with such well-known performers as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, worked with popular singers Doris Day and Rosemary Clooney, recorded records at the Columbia Records studio. The envelope of the plate contains only the name of the creator of the record - Siravo.
It turns out that the "mysterious" Orchestra of Solomon Schwartz also existed, but this orchestra played completely different music (no "twist" treatments and with the soloist's vocals). There is a vinyl disc by the Solomon Schwarz Orchestra recorded with singer Emmanuel Fisher (Emmanuel Fisher), entitled “Sing along simcha, A” - Sol Schwartz His Orchestra & The Emmanuel Fisher Singers (London, UK, 1967), with popular Jewish songs on "Yiddish".
Brief biography of Solomon Schwartz: 
Solomon Schwartz (real name of Stanley Black - Stanley Black), was born in 1913 in England (London, "Whitechapel" district). He lived and worked in London. His parents were Polish and Romanian Jews. At the age of seven, he began taking piano lessons. At the age of 12, young Stanley Black already worked with the BBC Radio Symphony Orchestra, which performed his works. At 18 years old, continuing his creative achievements, Stanley Black (Solomon Schwartz) won the competition of young composers ..
