Description
This lot contains ten 7-inch 45 RPM singles by Elvis Presley, all on the "dog on the side" RCA Victor label, which dates back to the mid to late 1960's. In the order shown in the pictures, they are:
* RCA Victor # 447-0628 -- "It's Now or Never" and "A Mess of Blues"
RCA Victor # 47-8585 -- "It Feels so Right" and "(Such an) Easy Question"
RCA Victor # 47-8657 -- "I'm Yours" and "(It's a) Long and Lonely Highway"
* RCA Victor # 447-0651 -- "Known Only to Him" and "Joshua Fit the Battle"
RCA Victor # 447-0643 -- "Crying in the Chapel" and "I Believe in the Man in the Sky"
RCA Victor # 47-9465 -- "U. S. Male" and "Stay Away"
RCA Victor # 47-9610 -- "Almost in Love" and "A Little Less Conversation"
RCA Victor # 447-0650 -- "Wooden Heart" and "Puppet on a String"
* RCA Victor # 47-8780 -- "Frankie and Johnny" and "Please Don't Stop Loving Me"
RCA Victor # 47-8740 -- "Tell Me Why" and "Blue River"
You're probably wondering what the asterisks are for, so I'll tell you. Grading them visually, they are mostly nice and shiny, but with varying amounts of scuffs and scratches. The three with asterisks are the least shiny of the bunch, so I played them first. The result: RCA Victor # 447-0628 is in the worst shape, with constant background crackle and even a few forward skips on the "Mess of Blues" side. Next comes RCA Victor # 47-8780, which has a slight warp at the edge, causing a few forward skips right at the start but then settling down, with background crackle mostly only audible during the quieter passages. And third, RCA Victor # 447-0651 - no skips or jumps but fairly constant background crackle and a few passages of ticking.
I haven't played the other seven all the way through, but I've played passages that looked like they might be affected by particular scuffs or scratches, and the grading for the most part was in the VG+ range, but with some occasionally audible background noise or passages of ticking. Apart from a persistent ticking on "Almost in Love", I'd have to say that most of the audible background noise was well within the light to negligible range, nothing really obnoxious or obtrusive. And again, the volume of the music was always a factor - the quieter the music, the more you'll hear some background noise.
Because of variations in tracking ability and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment.
Also included are the RCA Victor sleeves shown in the pictures, but they are creased, chipped and torn and do not add to the overall value. I think they're all older than the records anyway.
International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges. We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws. COMBINED SHIPPING: See our seller list for other interesting and unusual items, in fact bid on several and you might save on shipping and handling. If you buy multiple items, and if it's feasible and cost-effective for us to ship the items together, we will gladly consider requests to combine shipping at a reduced cost. Just e-mail us, and we can provide combined shipping cost estimates on a case-by-case basis. Depending on weight and other considerations, we typically offer full shipping rate for the first item, then 50 cents or $1.00 per item. And if you are purchasing multiple items, please make the payment as a single payment, rather than trying to pay for each item separately. Oh, and this may sound obvious, but we can't reduce the shipping charges for items on which we offer free shipping.PAYPAL: Please note that, due to Paypal's ridiculously over-protective "Confirmed Address" policy, we no longer honor requests for shipment to third party addresses, and we reserve the right to refuse to ship to unconfirmed addresses, especially overseas. If you have any questions about this, please contact us prior to bidding so we can review your options. If you have any complaints about this, please contact Paypal.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING COSTS: If the eBay auto-calculator is not responding, or if you think our shipping costs are too high, please contact us prior to bidding to determine your shipping options and costs. Repeat, prior to bidding, please.
FEEDBACK: Because of abuses we've experienced in the past, we have totally given up on the eBay feedback system, so we neither give nor expect feedback. Please, therefore, do not contact us after the auction asking us to leave feedback. If you ever have a problem with an item you purchase from us, please contact us directly about it before giving negative feedback or seller ratings, and especially before invoking eBay's dreaded Grand Tribunal in processes like "Return Requests" or "Opening an Item Not as Described Case." No one is perfect, and we occasionally mis-describe something, or an item arrives late or gets damaged in the mail, but we are always quick to respond to a problem and set it straight in the most mutually agreeable way.
