Description
This is a rare, hard to find stereo LP from the British Group Ten Years After. It is on the Deram label. XDES 18050 and was released in 1971. Ten Years After was a major rock group in the late 1960s and into the 1970s. Mostly known for the high energy guitar playing of their front man, Alvin Lee. During this period they had many hit records that topped the charts, but were probably best known for their high-octane performance at the original Woodstock Music Festival in 1969. Besides Alvin Lee on guitar, Ten Years After consisted of Leo Lyons on bass, Chuck Churchill on keyboards & Ric Lee on drums. Songs included on this collection are; I'm Coming On, My Baby Left Me, Think About The Times, I Say Yeah, The Band With No Name, Gonna Run, She Lies In The Morning, & a live version of Chuck Berry's Sweet Little Sixteen.
This LP has been in storage for many years but has retained most of its brilliance over the past 40 years. The album cover is in EX+ to -NM. All of the psychedelic colors used in the design are still sharp. There is some minor wear around some edges but all in all this cover is close to NM. The label looks NM. The vinyl looks shiny and clean. I would say it is EX+ to NM-. Very minimal scuff only visable under good light. Outside of me playing it to hear the sound, I don't think it's been played more than just a few times, certainly not in at least 35 years. The sound is crisp and sharp and has little to no backgroung noise at all. Also included in this package is an awesome 24" x 24" fold-out poster featuring each member of the group. Again, the colors are of the psychedelic style of those times. There is some minimal yellowing on the back of the included poster (along the fold line) but it absolutely does not affect the colors on the poster. The poster like the rest is EX+ to NM. This is a terrific find for those of you who are looking for great rock, as well as a piece of history.
