Description
On offer here is a copy of Ten Years After, the first self titled album by Ten Years After, released in MONO on the Deram label in 1967, catalogue number DML 1015.
The single sleeve by Clout & Baker which is laminated on the front and unlaminated on the back, is in Very Good Plus condition, with some creasing in the laminate and some laninate lift near the spine. The rear is generally white and clean with some age discolouration near the spine, however this just reminds us that this is a 49 year old album, and as such has survived really very well.
This is a classic TYA album right at the start of their career with guitarist Alvin Lee (now very sadly departed) on the top of his playing. As well as some of his own compositions, there are songs by Willie Dixon and Sonny Boy Williamson, great stuff.
The album was Produced by Mike Vernon and Engineered by Gus Dudgeon, with liner notes by John Gee, manager of the Marquee Club.
The heavyweight vinyl has retained a shine to both sides, and even though there are some light marks and hairlines, this does not affect the audio performance.
I played this album through (after cleaning it on my VPI cleaner) at high volume on my system ( Michell Gyrodek, SME Series IV Arm, Dynavector Moving Coil cartridge, Naim Pre and Twin Mono Power Amps and B & W 800D speakers) and the audio is stunning, with no crakles pops or distortion, the run in is silent as it is between the tracks. The only point of note is that in the vey quietest part at the end of "Help Me" which is the last track on Side Two, there is some minor backround crackle but this is minor. Otherwise the reproduction is superb.
The matrix numbers are ARL 8050 - 2A and ARL 8051 - 3A.
This is now a rare album, even rarer in Mono which sold in tiny numbers, and does not come up often, this is in great shape with marvellous audio and is highly recommmended.
The record will be sent outside of it's cover in a polythene sleeve, sandwiched between two 12" cardboard stiffeners in a heavy duty record mailing envelope, made by Covers 33.
