Description
Wow - this is a stunning find for jazz collectors! Brit jazz was red hot in the mid Fifties, and the 'battle of the tenors' was bringing some amazing sax players to the fore, including Don Rendell.
This Nixa Jazz Series LP brings together some amazing musicians: the stunning Don Rendell - who went on to even greater things in the years ahead; Kenny Graham, whose Afro-Cubists were quickly considered one of the most imaginative outfits British jazz had created; the highly thought of Roy Sidwell, who started out on alto sax and played with Ken Moule Seven; and the Eric Delaney Band's Jimmy Skidmore, a comparative veteran of the scene.
The vinyl is in really excellent order - a couple of pops on Side 1 and that's it! Beautiful. The original laminated flipback sleeve is in excellent shape too - so rare to find with these quite flimsy 1950s sleeves – no edge or corner wear, no laminate lift, just a slight bit of bend to the spine edge corners. Remarkable!
It comes with the original 'see through' sleeve, and I'll add a new lined inner in case you prefer that. Excellent labels, with just a little wear around the centre hole.
Great listen and highly collectable jazz from the 50s/60s golden era – and incredibly hard to find, particularly in such great condition!
