"THE MAGNIFICENT THAD JONES" - On Blue Note BLP 1527. Original FIRST PRESS 1956 Mono 12" LP, double sided DEEP GROOVE with the classic Blue & White labels and the 767 Lexington AVE NYC address on both labels. FLAT EDGE with RVG and the "ear" engraved in the dead wax of both sides. Thick vinyl, thick carboard cover. The personnel: Thad Jones/trumpet; Billy Mitchell/tenor sax; Barry Harris/piano; Percy Heath/bass; Max Roach/drums. The vinyl is in VG to VG- condition. Although there are visible surface scratches/sleeve marks, the vinyl still maintains some gloss. Plays with low crackling that, while certainly audible, never overwhelms the sound. However, the playback also has some occasional popping that may be distracting to the listener. The thick cardboard cover is VG and displays nicely. Some faint tape stains along edges. There is a minor 2" seam split by top right corner. Back side has two small areas by the upper right corner missing from the slick (probably done to remove a filing label). Address on back cover is 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21. The songs are: April In Paris; Billie-Doo; If I Love Again; If Someone Had Told Me; Thedia.~ See my other eBay auctions of similar collectible LPs!! ~
