The Andrew Oldham Orchestra - The Rolling Stones Songbook – Original Australian Unboxed Red Decca Records Stereo Vinyl LP 

Decca Records release no: SKLA 4796. Stereo.

This is not a re-issue and this stereo version from what I gather was rare at the time as many lp's were pressed in mono.

This is an original Australian Decca Records red unboxed label release from 1965. 

Rolling Stones Songbook featured the orchestrated version of the Mick Jagger and Keith Richards song "The Last Time", which was sampled by The Verve for their track "Bitter Sweert Symphony". Licensing issues over the sample caused the entire publishing copyright of the Verve's own composition to be taken by ABKCO Records, and the entire composition to be credited to Jagger and Richards.

The cover is laminated, and is in excellent condition for it's age. Please see the pictures.

For those who are interested in pressing versions the matrix numbers are: on side one ZAL-7075-1W and on side two ZAL-7076-4W.

This album has no scratches and is very clean. It has not been played all that much. There are no clicks or jumps.

The Record Grading

I have classed this using the Record Collector Grading as "Very Good ++".

This record is not brand new or in mint condition so if that is what you are after then to avoid any disappointment please refrain from bidding if you prefer mint condition.   

The reason for the grading. 

I have graded this record with a VG ++ on the way to excellent (as per the Record Collector grading) .The music is still a great listen, there are no scratches, the record is very clean and has not been played extensively.

The back cover has had a two marker pen lines put through what was probably a previous owners name. The cover is slightly discoloured with age. Please look at the pictures.

I use the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide as below.

2.  MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be     Mint.

3.  EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

4.  VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

5.  GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

6.  FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

7.  POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

8.  BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
