Description

The B-52s - Rock Lobster b/w 52-Girls / DB Recs, DB 52, 1978, Atlanta / VG++/VG
We offer up a remarkably choice copy of The B-52s first single.  First pressing (matrix - DRT DB-52-A WP/DRT DB-52-B WP; monochrome green sleeve, text on back, etc.) of their first single, SIGNED by the ENTIRE BAND ca. 1979.  From the collection of the late Frederic Vigneron.  Frederic, then at college in Hartford, sent the band a request (and $2) for their single after seeing them live and finding it hard to procure a copy locally.  He received back a copy signed by Schneider, Wilson (Cindy), Wilson (Ricky), Pierson & Strickland.  Strickland's photo is mischievously adorned with feelers.  Additionally, Ricky Wilson (1953-1985), founder and guitarist, returned Frederic's typed letter with a note in pencil on the verso alerting the former to upcoming shows in the northeast scheduled for late February of 1979.  Truly scarce to have the signatures and this sweet note from Ricky.  The record is in great shape: bright and clean labels, clean sides with a single hairline to the A; excellent sound with very minor static.  The sleeve is mildly stained and mildly worn but remains quite presentable.
