The BEATLES ‘A Collection Of Beatles Oldies’ stereo PCS 7016
Side 1: YEX 619-1G (1 M) Side 2:YEX 620-1G (1 A)
First UK Pressing STEREO from late 1966 on Parlophone black and yellow label.
Ernest J Day outer cover with ‘stereo’ in lower position than normal. On Garrod & Lofthouse covers, which were by far the most common, ‘stereo’ is in the extreme top right hand corner on the white edging. This copy has it on the actual cover design so it is much less visible (see comparison photo). The cover is in VG + condition with minor handling marks and discolouration, not bad for a 50 year old example!
The VINYL LP plays VG+ some clicking audible but nothing to distract from listening. Visually the record looks in very nice condition with superficial markings only. Both labels are very clean with minor spindle trails. The plain white inner bag is the original with ‘Patents Applied For and ‘Made in Great Britain’ in small type at the bottom. It does have some edge rips but is still usable with care. When it was sold in a record shop it looks like the record was kept separate from the cover as ‘pcs 7016’ is written in ink on the plain white inner sleeve.
This LP has never been remastered or re-released in any form so these original 1966 LPs are getting rarer. This is a very nice example with an Ernest J Day cover and the dropped ‘stereo’ text on the front.
