Description
Rare Capitol Records Record Club promotional item. Record was apparently used to help attract new club members and likely dates from 1964. The flexi disc contains excerpts of songs by The Beatles (Roll Over Beethoven), The Beach Boys (Little Deuce Coupe) and The Kingston Trio (When the Saints Go Marching In). The three panel piece measures 7”x7” when folded and opens up to 7”x21”. Included are a great black and white and picture of the Beatles as well as mini covers of popular LPs of the time (including Meet The Beatles and a larger shot of The Beatles Second Album). The detachable card is intact and does not have any writing present. The three panels are intact and attached as originally issued.
The item presents beautifully and has minimal flaws. The laminated record surface has what appear to be two light surface scratches, one about 1 1/2” and one about 1/2”. The panels are mainly flat with just a bit of curling at the top of the center portion. The perforated card shows absolutely no evidence of ever being folded! Colors are bright and crisp throughout! The center spindle hole has been neatly punched out as intended. While the record is a standard 7", it plays at 33 and not at 45.
