A rare and sought after copy (especially in this condition) of this 1965 UK MONO 1st pressing 

on the PARLOPHONE label MONO, GEP 8946

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  7TCE 888 - 1 with stampers "2" and "L" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

Side 2  7TCE 889 - 1 with stampers "2" and "R M" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

The appearance of the vinyl is NEAR MINT. The vinyl is flat and each side has retained it's original beautiful jet black, glossy, lacquered sheen. No scuffs or wispy hairlines, even when viewed under a bright light, with each and every groove remaining perfectly defined. Clearly this EP has been played only a handful of times, if that. Wonderful!

The labels are pristine. Again, difficult to fault, with no marks. I think that there is a single, small and very faint spindle trace adjacent to the centre hole on side 2 but it's so faint that I can't be certain! The four pronged centre is perfectly intact. On side 1 the "K" and "T" tax codes are raised and clearly in evidence and on each label there is the text "Golden Discs" - each of these characteristics being unique to very first pressings of this record.

The front-side laminated, flipback outer sleeve is excellent+ - there are a couple of very faint, small ring wear marks on the reverse side but these are extremely minor. The flipbacks remain in perfect working order with no creasing, all edges remain rigid with no creasing, there is no laminate lifting, and each corner remains a perfectly defined right angle. Remarkable for a 53 year old classic EP such as this.

Finally, the quality of the audio is stunning. Perfect MONO audio quality with no distortion either on higher frequencies or at higher volume. No background/crackle/interference, just brilliant audio quality throughout.

In summary a wonderful copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1965 UK 1st MONO pressing Beatles classic, worthy of gracing any Beatles collection and only continuing to gain in value.

I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
