The BEATLES Please Please Me Polish Postcard Record 1960's Very Rare
You're bidding on a rather unique item. It's a postcard made in Poland in the 1960's which has a scenic photo of a building in Warsaw on one side and typical postcard information on the other. What makes this so different is that the photo side is also a record. Western Music was not allowed in Soviet Countries so enterprising people found a way to smuggle it in by bonding a thin layer of plastic on the photo side and cutting music on it. This postcard plays The BEATLES song Please Please Me. The record is in Mono and plays at 45 RPM's. This was a very crude way to hear music but it was better than nothing. As you can imagine, the sound is quite rough but it plays ! The postcard has stains on the written side and a few dings on the music side. I've seen a few of these over the years but I've never seen one so small and old. The postcard measures 6" by 4" and you would need a manual turntable w/o a automatic tone arm to play it. Not that you're going to be playing it much ! A very obscure item indeed !! Starting Bid $ 20.00
