What It Is:
This is a box set of Beatles singles, released by Parlophone Records in Australia in 1982. It includes many more singles than were released by the Beatles in the UK.  Please see the scans and read the detailed condition description above. Other than the cosmetic problems with the box (mainly it's top), this is a great set with the disks in excellent condition. Detailed notes on this box set: By 1976, 17 of the first 18 Parlophone singles were out of print; Rock And Roll Music/Honey Don’t being the only single to survive the cut. In mid-1976, EMI (Australia) made the decision to recut six of these deleted singles for reissue. The singles selected were: From Me To You/Thank You Girl; She Loves You/I’ll Get You; I Want To Hold Your Hand/This Boy; Love Me, Do/I Saw Her Standing There; I Feel Fine/She’s A Woman; and, Ticket To Ride/Yes It Is. The tracks were cut in stereo, with the exception of From Me To You, Thank You Girl and I’ll Get You, which were mono, and She Loves You, Love Me, Do and Yes It Is, which were fake stereo. For I Want To Hold Your Hand, EMI (Australia) obtained a copy of the 1963 stereo mix, making it the first and only single appearance of the mix in the world. Two EMI (Australia) engineers were responsible for the recuts. Five of the recut singles carried the original UK matrix numbers, but without trailing lacquer numbers (for example “7XCE 17329” instead of “7XCE 17329-1N”). This can confuse collectors, who often assume that by carrying UK matrix numbers the singles were pressed from UK mothers. However, the sharp-eyed will notice that these cuts had handwritten matrices, not machine stamped matrices like UK cuts. These new cuts were reissued on 19 July 1976.
In preparation for the Australian 20th Anniversary Singles Collection release in October 1982, the remaining eleven deleted singles, plus This Boy, were recut by EMI (Australia) engineers Alan Parsons and Otto Ruiter. Bruce Hamlin assisted EMI (Australia) in selecting the (stereo) sources for these recuts. The matrices were the single catalogue number, with a trailing “A” or “B” to denote the side (although This Boy kept the 1976 matrix number, but with a new sequential lacquer number, as due to EMI (Australia) sending their master tape copy to the US without making a copy for themselves, it was cut from a dub of the 1976 vinyl single).
In balancing cost, EMI (Australia) considered the masters for the remaining singles sufficient, so they were not recut at this time. This created an odd situation where, from 1982, the 1963-1966 era singles were primarily in stereo whereas the 1967-1970 era singles were in mono! It has been stored carefully in a dark, dry, temperature-controlled environment.  Condition:

Box: VG- : The bottom of the box (where the records sit) is in VG condition, with scuffs and scrapes, mainly on the bottom. The top of the box' back left corner seams ripped apart [previous owner's attempted repair with tape is still visible inside the top], back right has a small split, about 1", scrapes on the top right of the title face.  
Sleeves: VG++ : all sleeves have very mild ringwear and a certain degree of slight "waviness" from storage in the box (could be easily flattened). The glue is failing in most of the single's sleeves causing the front portion to be detached from the back. The fold-out Collection description's cover is VG for wear removing a significant potion of the black background, the rest is VG++ for just minor creasing.
I've placed all sleeves in mylar outer sleeves to prevent any additional wear.
Records: VG++ : no signs of being played. no spindle marks, no scratches or other marks -- EXCEPT (1) inaudible scrapes on one side of singles # 9, 16, and 29, (2) a pinhead-sized lump in the vinyl at the very end of # 32, Got to Get You Into My Life, causing a few audible tics overlapping the last couple of seconds of music. Many of the discs have a few white spots on their rims -- inner flakes of the sleeves stuck to the outermost rim from sleeve's glue. Also, some mottling on some discs, clearly from manufacturing, that aren't audible.
