"Balanced For Broadcast" February 1964 Great New Releases From The Sound 'Capitol' Of The World - Various Artists - Capitol PRO-2538 original pressing of ultra-rare promotional only for radio-play samler lp from 1964. Record (in original blue Capitol ad sleeve) is Near Mint (pristine gloss, like new, possibly unplayed); cover is Near Mint.
The Beatles were featured on this extremely rare promotional lp album disc, which was issued to radio stations in early 1964. Both the front and the back liner explain that the disc is "Balanced for Broadcast." According to the back liner, "the selections in this specially-prepared lp have been arranged in a sequence which will enable you to present an entire side at a time. In other words, 'instant programming', from the first through the last track". Side two contains The Beatles songs This Boy and It Won't Be Long, sequenced with tunes by the likes of Wayne Newton, folk singer Dick Weissman and country rocker Wanda Jackson. It is described as being "suitable for 'variety' music stations," as Capitol hoped stations would broadcast an entire side at a time. Good luck finding another one of these, especially in this near perfect condition.
