on DECCA RECORDS F.12352 from 1966
Here’s a real fuzz-bombed freakbeat gem!
Everything about this monster is from the vital ingredients of British mod-beat where it becomes ‘psych’. More sophisticated and too well-produced to be called garage, the instrumentation is DYNAMITE ; the chord structure has something of ‘Can’t Explain’ while the raw razor guitar-attack reminds of The Blue Aces’ “That’s All Right”, also because of what I believe might be a horn playing alongside the striking guitar for brilliant effect. Vocally there’s an R’n B style still, sounding like a cross between Neil Christian and Chris Farlowe. Blinding!!
The flip isn’t too shabby either, and the singer Ronnie Smith stretches his vocal chords to a limit here with a rabid delivery.
This was only their second single, and it’s their best too.
You won’t find one of this in better condition either;
CONDITION of the vinyl here is NEAR MINT, looks FLAWLESS on both sides!!
Lables are clean NM- showing just a couple of faint spindle-marks only.
