Description

Allenspark Esperanto Chainsaw Orchestra. "The Ballad of Chainsaw Maggie". Jumping Star Records, 1980. 
This private press Colorado folk 7" is a unique piece of Colorado history, signed by the real life Chainsaw Maggie. Chainsaw Maggie (Margaret Walter) was an Allenspark CO native who was upset at a timeshare company who had moved in and bought out an existing lodge. They had placed signs advertising the lodge on public land without getting permissions or permits. The signs also were designed to look like highway signs pointing tourists to them. In an act of protest, she got her chainsaw and cut several of them down one night. She was arrested and later released, becoming a local folk hero in the process. 
This record was a song made about her story not long after the event, with the long version on one side and the short version on the other. It is signed by Margaret Walter on side B.
