Description
The Band STAO-132
Here we have The Band's self-titled second album, aka 'the Brown Album' in an incredibly rare label variation. This copy contains the early 60's "black/rainbow" label Capitol abandoned just before the release of this seminal disc. Most original pressings use the "lime green" label. However, only a few of the initial Record Club editions used this since deleted label. For quite some time many in the record collecting community doubted the existence of this exceedingly rare variation. I have been collecting vinyl for 25 years & have only come across this one copy.
The disc is in EX/VG+ condition with several slight hairline scuffs that are only noticeable in quieter passages (i.e., "Whispering Pines) while the sleeve is in solid VG+ shape. In fact, the only reason the sleeve isn't rated higher is due to the fact that the original owner saw fit to begin coloring in the album title with a blue ball-point pen. Thankfully, he/she stopped their work of art, only affecting the stem of the "T".
