You are bidding on a rare Band vinyl collectible. This is a 1982 release of The Band’'s first album ("Music From Big Pink" (1968)) issued by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. This vinyl was made using the "Half Speed Mastering Process" and the sound is spectacular. The Band’s version of “ I Shall Be Released,” “Chest Fever,” and “This Wheel’s On Fire” sound truly spectacular.
The importance of this album cannot be over stated. When Rock and Roll was going psychedlic, the Band, with their first album, pulled the plug, and brought Rock and Roll back to it's roots. Eric Clapton claims that when he first heard this, he quit Cream, and tried to join "The Band." Bob Dylan was hanging out with his old back up band during the recording, and contributed several songs ("I Shall Be Released,") and the front cover of the album is one of his paintings. This important album can be heard on vinyl in crystal clear, warm, beautiful sound.
This edition is long out of print, and is very difficult to find in this condition. Gatefold album, inserts, and LP Vinyl are all near mint condition. There are slight bends on the top of the cover, and a tiny bend on the corner. There is a small cut out ("notch") on the top right hand side of the album. This "cut" is shown on the last photo included with this posting.
