Description

The Band  "Music From Big Pink"

This is an original UK vinyl pressing on Capitol ST 2955 from 1968.   This was their first album.    They backed Bob Dylan on his 1966 world tour, when he went electric.    This album was produced by John Simon.   The cover painting is by Bob Dylan.     The back cover says 'arragements : Albert Grossman'.      This has their most famous song : 'The Weight'.  

There are many differences between this UK issue and the Amercian issue.     This does not have a gatefold cover.       It does have seven paragraphs of liner notes on the back cover ( but no author is noted).    The front cover has the artists and album title in big pink letters.    On the back it notes the author of each song and it shows three Dylan songs.   ( but actually 'Tears of Rage' is Dylan and Manuel, and 'Wheels On Fire' is Dylan and Danko.   

The songs are :  Tears Of Rage, To Kingdom Come, In A Station, Caledonia Mission, The Weight, We Can Talk, Long Black Veil, Chest Fever, Lonesome Suzie, Wheels Of Fire, and I Shall Be Released.

Overall Condition is : Cover is VG+ /  Record is M-

The cover is VG+ with no ring wear, no writing , and no seam splits.   The glossy cover has light wear that is only noticeable from an angle.    The cover folds around to the back at top, bottom, and on the right.   There is a small price sticker at top right.    The vinyl looks mint and it plays near mint.    The labels are perfect with no spindle marks.  The record comes in an EMI inner sleeve.   

About Me :

I started collecting records in 1966.     I started selling in Goldmine in 1985.      I now sell records at all Northwest record conventions : Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Canby.       And at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon.     My records are from a no smoking and no pets home.  

Packaging :

I take great care on every package and I do each one personally.     I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard.     Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard.       Together they are very strong and unbendable.   ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! )       I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic sleeve.     The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides. 

Postage :  Weight : 1 pound 5 ounces

You have to pay for the postage.     I pre-weigh every record, so that you pay the exact amount the post office charges.   There are no handling charges.     This record will weigh 21 ounces ( 1 pound, 5 ounces ) when ready to ship.   US bidders can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail.    All US winners will get shipping through Paypal and an automatic email with the tracking number.      Overseas bidders must use First Class Mail International.    You will get an automatic email with the customs/tracking number.      ( Buyers from Brazil must assume all risks for shipping to their country. )      I will send your record as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM : Monday thru Saturday)   I will combine shipping if you win more than one record.      Please wait for me to send you an invoice for all of your records in one package.
