Description
The Battered Ornaments: Mantle-piece; 1st Pressing SHVL 758. This LP was recorded when Pete Brown left to form Piblokto although his influence is plain top see, especially as most of the songs are written by him. The Ornaments include Chris Spedding on guitar and Rob Tait on drums.

The vinyl does have a few minor scuffs and a hairline scratch, but plays exceptionally well throughout. In terms of condition rating - I am no expert, the records have been cleaned with wet wipes and was played on a Technics turntable using a new Technics P24 stylus. The overall vinyl condition I would say is Very good plus, maybe better, based on the above and that the vinyl looks very clean with some surface marks, the centre is clean with virtually no spindle marks (see photos) The record plays exceptionally well throughout with a good depth of sound with some slight background noise that virtually disappears if 'Dolby Mute' is used. The sleeve has very little to wear, except were the laminate has shrunk causing a matt finish on the edges and at one corner (see photo) and I would grade its overall condition as Very Good to VG Plus.
I have tried to grade using the Record Collectors Grading, as below: Excellent (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. Delivery is by signed Royal Mail, 2/3 days
