The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds / Carl & The Passions "So Tough" 1972 US Vinyl LP in excellent condition Warner Brothers MS 2083
Here it is folks! The definitive 1972 mono pressing of The Beach Boys 1966 classic "Pet Sounds" coupled with the 1972 "Carl & The Passions - So Tough". Using the same metal mastering plates as the original LP and considered by many to be the superior mono mastering vinyl edition as cut by Brian Wilson.
The gatefold sleeve is in good condition, shows wear and there are seam splits approximately 5" in length along the bottom and top edges of both sleeve pockets. The vinyl is VG+ , clean, and in very well-cared for condition! Both discs have been stored in audiophile inner sleeves. The labels are in near mint condition. They both state stereo however the disc plays mono. The run out groove includes the following information:
Side 1: 2MS -2083 11452-1
Side 2: 2MS-2083 11453-1
This is an Artisan mastering and the stamp is present on both sides.
Released in June 1972, concurrently made available outside the US and Canada without bonus release as The Beach Boys - Carl And The Passions – "So Tough"
"Carl and the Passions -"So Tough" (1972) was a disjointed rush job, hastily assembled between live gigs, that even Carl admitted was weak overall. Warner/Reprise released it as half of a double LP set, coupled with Pet Sounds. The Beach Boys, as part of a settlement with Capitol Records, had the rights to our LPs from after 1965 for ten years, so someone at Warner/Reprise had the bright idea of coupling Carl and the Passions -"So Tough" with Pet Sounds, undermining the whole makeover strategy."
