100% Original 1966 Mono First Pressing in Flawless Original Shrink Wrap with Vintage Kmart Price Tag – Very Good ++ to Near Mint Vinyl!
This is an absolute holy grail for fans of mid-century pop masterpiece history. This is a spectacular, completely original 1960s mono pressing of The Beach Boys' 1966 album, Pet Sounds (Capitol Records, T 2458) manufactured at the legendary Scranton, Pennsylvania plant.
Finding a first-press copy of Pet Sounds is getting harder by the day, but finding one preserved exactly like this is a once-in-a-decade occurrence.
Jacket Condition: Excellent (EX) in Original Shrink Wrap
The Shrink Wrap: The jacket remains completely sealed inside its original 1960s factory shrink wrap (open cleanly at the mouth to remove the vinyl). It has kept the cover colors beautifully bright and vibrant, preventing the heavy ring wear and yellowing that plagues almost all other surviving copies.
The Hype/Price Tag: Features a beautifully preserved, original vintage Kmart price sticker intact on the shrink wrap.
Structure: The seams and spine are remarkably crisp, firm, and fully protected. Features a clean, uniform top-center industry cut-out/distributor hole punch as was standard for the era.
Vinyl Condition: Near Mint (NM) – Like Brand New!
Visual Appearance: The vinyl disc is a stunning time capsule. It retains all of its brilliant original factory gloss and luster. Labels: Original Capitol "Rainbow/Black" labels are pristine, bright, and show virtually no spindle wear around the center hole. This record was cherished, carefully handled, and played a bare minimum number of times.
