Description

An original 1st press of Pet Sounds on the UK Capitol label from 1966. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1-RD/1-GT. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback Mono cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse. Also included is the original white inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
The Vinyl (Ex-) In very nice shape despite seeing a light to moderate level of use. Under close inspection there are a number of light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are quiet and the audio comes across with very good clarity. Do bear in mind this is a mono cut from the mono masters - none of that Duphonic crap! So, the sound quality has a touch of class. Interference is light and infrequent. All we detected was a touch of light static in a couple of the tracks e.g. You Still Believe/God Only Knows. Other than that you will be treated to a quality rendition of quality mono reproduction. Nice!
Cover (Ex-) Has clearly been looked after down the years and is looking far better than most copies. Lovely shiny front with a touch of ring wear. The rear is in really nice condition and has escaped most of the usual fading that afflicts these covers. Please note a few of the tracks have red ticks by the side. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Nice condition. Little ageing. No splits. One signature and note.
