Gorgeous glossy vinyl.  A few very superficial hairline marks that show up under bright light.  This one is gorgeous.  Jacket is clean with no splits.  Slight wear on corners and spine.  No splits!

"Smiley Smile" was released in 1967 on the Beach Boys' own brand new imprint "Brother Records," manufactured and distributed by Capitol.  The label was tan with "Brother Records" in green at the top and the vested brave horseback to  the left of that.  The catalog number for the common Brother release was ST-9001 for stereo (some rechanneled) and T-9001 for Mono.

The Capitol Record Club edition is on the old black colorband label and is far rarer.  By 1967, the Club was being phased out and would soon be sold to Longines (until its demise in 1972) which used Decca for pressing. The Club was known to continue using discontinued labels past the date that Capitol used them.

The 1967 colorband Capitol Club "Smiley Smile" is valued BY GOLDMINE (which is universally conservative on most valuations) at $300 whereas the Brother Records versions are valued between $15 and $40

This is the rare Capitol Record Club version with the "80000" series catalog number "ST-8-2891" on the black colorband with the "Manufactured Under License From Capitol Records, Inc." print.  Apparently all Capitol Record Club jackets credited Barry Turnbull for the album title, since the club version was released a few months after the Brother Records version.

The album includes the short version of "Good Vibrations" and the wonderful "Heroes and Villains."

I am first and foremost a collector.  I have been collecting and enjoying recorded music on vinyl since 1973.  I know how to grade.  You will not see a lot of NM grades because it is a very high standard.  EX+ iis the highest level of Goldmine’s VG+ and will normally delight any serious collector.  Unfortunately, overgrading is epidemic on ebay, requiring buyers to “do the math” in their head to estimate an actual grade.  My grades are solid and satisfaction is guaranteed.
