   For sale is The Beach Boys' Surf's Up, originally released in 1972 by Reprise Records. On the label is the "W" logo along the outer rim, and a smaller pressing rim in the middle of the record, signifying a second pressing. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers LW-1/LW-1, followed by a small star-shaped etching, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this second edition that was pressed at Capitol Records' pressing plant in Los Angeles, California, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record new, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. I always put my records directly into a protective inner sleeve, thus preserving the vinyl and any inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come originally with the release. There is no original inner sleeve or poster with this listing. The cover is graded as VG+ because of corner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs and a small stress cracks along the spine. The spine has color loss from these cracks and rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint Minus with the slightest hint of sleeve marks, and play graded as Near Mint Minus because of an occasional random pop. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This is the best copy of this record that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition, being that it has become very scarce.
