In 1973, Apple Records released two album compilations, “The Beatles 1962-1966” (Red Album) and “The Beatles 1967-1970” (Blue Album). These two albums represent the anthology of The Beatles’ best songs released during this period. Up for an auction is the first album, “The Beatles 1962-1966”, in a factory sealed condition. This original 1st US issue released on Apple Records contains the Apple logo not only on the labels, but also at the center top of the back cover in addition to having the original hype sticker. It’s very easy to identify the second pressing of this album as it has the Capitol Target logo as oppose to the Apple logo on the back cover. Therefore, by placing a bid on this copy you’re trying to win the very 1st issue of this album with the original large 1st print 4” x 6” red track listing hype sticker with the Apple logo and “Printed in USA” text, which advertises the presence of two matching color red custom inner sleeves with “Complete Lyrics” inside. The bottom of the back cover contains the 1st print “1700 Broadway, New York, New York 10019” credits which were changed on the later pressings. The front cover of this factory sealed copy contains the original Capitol Records gold-foil “The Greatest Music Ever Sold” sticker certifying this album as “Best Of” and indicating that it’s the best-selling album of 1973. Both stickers are affixed to the fully intact shrink wrap containing the original breath holes. The album is in great Mint condition.
