Description
Very first stereo pressing of A Collection Of Beatles Oldies
The matrix numbers on this copy are YEX 619-1G and YEX 620-1G.
The perimeter text starts The Gramophone Co Ltd and there is Sold in U.K. subject… text below the yellow Parlophone.
The larger STEREO above the yellow Parlophone marks this out as one of the earliest first presses - by mid 1967 this appeared in smaller type.
The Garrod & Lofthouse front laminated / flipback rear sleeve is in very good condition. There's some laminate creasing on the front, a little wear around the opening and a touch of discolouration to the rear but nothing worrying.
The EMI inner isn't in great shape - there's no writing on it but it's quite worn around the opening and all 3 sides have large splits
The record itself still has a lovely shine with only very light sleeve removal marks to be seen. Nice clean labels with surpringly little spindle wear evident. The last time I played it, which was some time ago, I noted that it played excellently throughout. I didn't mention crackle at the time but for a record of this age I'm sure there will be some here and there.
UK only please - will be sent signed for in record mailer with stiffener
