Description

A 1st of the 1st pressings of Oldies But Goldies from Xmas 1966 on the UK Parlophone. Matrix 1G/1G. This is the very first label variation available at Xmas 1966 - Times New Roman font and the publishing dates grouped at the left side of the label. These are true mono cuts of the Beatles hits direct from early masters - and are amazingly well preserved. 

Vinyl (Ex+) This is one of those slabs of vinyl you can only sit back and marvel at..It looks brand new - as though it's just dropped off of the press. The surfaces are mirror like and it has clearly only seen very very light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of ultra-faint back rash type marks - nothing vaguely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity and barely any interference. The only thing that was vaguely audible was one or two ultra-light static crackles in Yesterday/Michelle. These tracks are known for being particularly fussy even on their original respective albums. My personal hunch is that you will struggle ever finding anything that plays even close to this copy. The audio throughout has breathtaking clarity and precision. These original tracks taken direct from the mono masters really are a treat to behold. One of the best playbacks I've ever heard...
Cover (Vg+) Not in quite the same league as the vinyl, but has clearly been cared for and looks in well above average condition. It is exhibiting a bit of ageing and this is visible on the rear around the upper flipback. But other than that it is in very decent condition in deed. A lovely shiny front with no creasing or scuffs. Edge wear is almost non-existent and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. A superb example.
Inner (Ex-) No splits just some light ageing.
