Description

A bit of an historical article in its own right - these 1st Dum Dum copies are hard to find. But even setting this aside - they were pressed using UK metal parts and sound identical to a UK 1st press. If you can find one well preserved [like this one] the audio is absolutely superb<<<<<.
Matrix 3N/3N - 1st matrix for Indian. 1st matrix for UK. Stampers 2G/2A. Labels mention 'recording 1st pub 1964' - this label design is the very 1st design for India. Sweet! The vinyl comes housed in an original Emitex inner which is found in an original 1st issue Dum Dum cover. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Superb! Given the vintage and rarity of this item the preservation is undeniably amazing. The vinyl is looking as good as the best 1st pressings in the UK I've seen [very unusual for the Dum Dum copy]. Under close inspection a couple of light marks - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. This copy sounds absolutely identical to a mono 1st UK copy. The similarity in output is amazing. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. I doubt I've a witnessed an original UK AHDN play much better. Superb throughout with no background. Plays clean into all the lower key tracks. Very little to turn your nose up at here. Just a solid player that has rolled straight outta 1964.
Cover (G) Ok, the cover is no where near as impressive as the vinyl. ON the face of it looks fine. A relatively clean front and rear. I'd imagine many examples will have a terrible looking rear. But to be fair this example is looking reasonably tidy. Please note the spine is totally split through. Now, someone has done a pretty good tape repair which secures it. Expect a fair bit of edge wear. Overall a survivor which still looks tidy. The value, for me, is all in the vinyl which is exceptional.
Inner (Vg) A bit aged. A couple of small splits. Bag present.
