Description
PMC 1230 An original 1st Pressing on the UK Parolphone label from the time of release in 1964. Matrix -3N/-3N. Stampers 1-GD/2-RD. The record label type font [chubby] is consistent with that of a first issue. The record comes housed in its original cover and it is generally accepted that Ernst J. Day printed the covers for the earliest editions of the Beatles albums. In addition to this I am also including the original Emitex inner sleeve and the Emi/Parlophone flyer/leaflet promoting other titles on offer at the time. This promotional leaflet was only included in first editions of Hard Day's Night and is 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex-) Remains in great condition and has been well cared for. Under close inspection I can see a number of light marks on both sides, but they are very light marks and do not cause any audible problems. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a near Excellent level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with very little interference at all. There are one or two crackles audible very occasionally, but they are very minor and do not detract from what is an excellent level of playback.
Cover (Ex-) Again, has been well cared for and only exhibits minor signs of use. The cover retains good rigidity. The front is relatively crease free, but there is a light scratch over the John Lennon photo [the middle one]. The rear has avoided the worst of the ageing so typical on these covers, but there is a small amount apparent around the opening. The spine is 100% intact and edgewear is almost non-existent. A very solid example of an early cover.
Emitex (Ex-) No splits and very light ageing.
Flyer (Ex) No ageing, or markings front and back. One crease in the top left hand corner. Please note - this is not a zerox copy. The ink colour and the grade of paper are consistent with a couple of other examples I have found in early copies of Hard days Night.
