Description

An original very 1st stereo press of AHDN on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 2-GM/2-RA. Label design is perfectly consistent with very 1st pressing. Perimeter text reads 'Parlophone' and 'Recording 1st pub' is exhibiting. Then the guarantee of absolute 1st press - the font is large/chubby. Look how the word 'stereo' stretches all the way to the edge of the final "E" of Parlophone. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L stereo patents pending cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So,100% genuine & 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Superb! A lovely slab of vinyl which has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. A stunning performer and within the best couple of stereo 1st pressings I've ever witnessed. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across perfect clarity. It doesn't matter what type of track you're playing either..Low-key tracks are delivered with a perfectly clean background. Up-tempo numbers are performed with energy and precision. I really cannot fault it. Interference is pretty much absent. I'll do my usual catch-all. You may detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. The one slight deviation is a couple of clicks in, literally, the final two seconds of 'I Love Her'. A beautiful playing copy of this, now, hard to find stereo 1st pressing.
Cover (Vg+) Would grade higher, but one for one deviation down in the bottom left corner. Lovely clean and flat front with only a couple of thumbnail creases at the opening. The issue that brings the grading down on this example is right down in that bottom left corner. Check out the close-up shot provided... a two inch section along that bottom left edge has been guillotined off. I have tape repaired it as neatly as possible and it is now largely cosmetic. Check out the rear - it seems to have almost entirely escaped the usual ageing process. Flibacks are all secure with just a tiny amount of damage occurring at the extreme left end of the bottom flipback. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains perfect rigidity. Quite frankly a beautiful example...you just need to live with that one issue as detailed.
