Description
'A Hard Day's Night' remains one of The Beatles greatest albums. It is a Pop Music masterpiece. With the massive commercial success of their first two albums and four singles, all within a year, it was an obvious move for The Beatles to star in their own feature films. 'A Hard Day's Night' was the first. This is not precisely the soundtrack album: only the songs on the first side were featured in the movie, while the tracks on side two were recorded specifically for this album (apart from 'I'll Cry Instead', which was scheduled for inclusion in the film, but finally deemed unsuitable by director Richard Lester) Though only 30:32 in duration, what the Lp lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality....virtually every song is a testament to the genius of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The copy I am offering was most probably pressed in 1968/69 and has some unusual differences..... No Stereo or Mono printed on the front or back of the cover. Thin spine, with the title appearing along the spine only if one looks at the back. Instead of the usual 3 flipbacks, this jacket only has 2.....and I've noted that some copies have none! There may be more anomalies but I haven't spotted them yet. But the one common feature that this pressing shares with the one from 1964 is the sensational audio. Superb, distortion-free, loud stereo mix with all the instruments clear and detailed....a rare and beautiful example.
Condition of Lp Jacket: Near Mint(-) .....very little to fault here....colors are vivid and bright....the laminated front cover has only a couple of minor creases that are barely noticeable. The back cover has the usual signs of age discolouration but with no rips or unsightly stains. The 2 flipbacks are in near-perfect condition. A very solid example of this classic jacket.
Condition of Original Inner-Sleeve: Near Mint(-) ....in wonderful condition with 2 small seam splits to the right and left of the sleeve. Amazingly well preserved.
Condition of Record: Near Mint......how this record has survived for 45 years and not show any noticeable marks is astonishing. The record almost looks unplayed. The labels are perfect with no signs of spindle wear whatsoever. The weight of the vinyl is substantial....probably between 140g - 165g. As previously mentioned, the audio is superb....well balanced, loud, with virtually no surface noise. A TOP copy and incredibly rare in this condition.
