Ultra-rare 1970 Liberty / United Artists “wedge label” pressing of The Beatles “A Hard Day’s Night” with the “AudioMatrix” machine stamp in the runout grooves. These rare orange / black labels were the 8th label variation and were being issued by United Artists for less than a year, from 1970 to 1971. This rare 1970 issue has four different label variations and the copy currently listed for an auction contains the rarest label version among them. To begin with, these are the only labels to indicate “The Beatles” band name. Furthermore, this is the only label variation to mention the A2 track “Tell My Why” as “Tell Me Who”. Finally, these labels indicate the “Vocal / Instrumental” credits on both sides which are absent on the rest of the 3 variations. The majority of this issue copies contain the corrected cover with a blank white space instead of the publishing credits. However, this copy comes with the 1st print Version 1 cover containing the 3-line publishing credits crediting only “This Boy” to Maclen Music alone and co-crediting the rest of the songs to Unart Music. The original cover still remains in the fully intact factory shrink wrap. The 1st pressing vinyl has the very early matrix numbers with the machine stamped “AudioMatrix”. The full matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1: UAS-6366-1 114 AudioMatrix; Side 2: UAS-6366-2 114 AudioMatrix. The album comes with the original extremely rare orange / yellow “United Artists Records Catalog Highlights” inner sleeve. As a bonus to this rare issue copy, we’ve included the original “The Beatles A Hard Day’s Night” program signed by the singer, guitarist, composer and actor Eddie Payne, but more known as the prominent DJ Jimmy Rabbit at KLIF radio station in Dallas and also KCBQ AM/FM in San Diego. The program was signed on 09/18/1964 when Rabbit introduced The Beatles before their concert at Memorial Auditorium in Dallas and represents a very high collectible value.

The stunning cover remains in the original factory shrink wrap and is graded as Near Mint, just like the ultra rare original yellow / orange United Artists inner sleeve. I grade the glossy vinyl as Excellent Plus for Side 1 as it has only a couple of barely visible hairlines, and Near Mint or Mint Minus for Side 2. The labels are super clean and are in Near Mint condition, practically Mint. The vinyl sounds great, only having some very light static which most likely will go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. The original 1964 "A Hard Day's Night" souvenir program signed by Jimmy Rabbit is in outstanding vintage condition only having some very light age shelf wear.
