Description

In this auction:

  • “ABBEY ROAD” LP by The Beatles

  • This LP is Apple Records SO 383.

  • The Cover is an Apple-marked cover.

  • This LP appears to be a FIRST PRESSING that was released October 1, 1969.

  • The VINYL, with APPLE LABELS, has “MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS, INC.” in the perimeter printing on the SIDE 2 (sliced-Apple) label.

  • “STEREO” is printed to the left of the spindle hole. The catalog number “SO-383” to the right of the spindle hole above “SIDE 1” or “SIDE 2”. “Produced by George Martin” is printed at the bottom of both labels. And “Her Majesty” IS NOT LISTED on the Side 2 label.

  • The COVER that comes with this LP is made of POSTER-BOARD (with images printed directly onto the poster-board, NOT on a slick pasted to a cardboard cover) and “Her Majesty” IS NOT LISTED on the Rear Cover.

  • The COVER is in NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION and STILL in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. (It is in NM- condition and not NM due to 4 VERY SMALL, actually TINY, “bumps” on a 3-inch section about mid-way on the spine.

  • The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG+ to NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION with several very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (NONE “feel-able”). The vinyl has nice gloss.

It’s a VERY NICE 1st PRESSING of the BEATLES’ LANDMARK “ABBEY ROAD” LP to add to your vinyl collection!!!

A NOTE of CLARIFICATION: It seems to be a commonly-held belief that first pressings of Abbey Road were ONLY issued on Apple labels with the Capitol Logo in the Perimeter Printing on the sliced-Apple label. Well, that is NOT entirely true. Yes,  one first pressing of Abbey Road DID have that label style, BUT it was NOT the ONLY first pressing. There were also TWO OTHER FIRST PRESSINGS with different label styles.  Those two additional first pressings have Apple labels with" Mfd. by Apple" in the perimeter printing of the sliced Apple label. ALL THREE OF THESE FIRST PRESSINGS (ONE with Capitol logo in perimeter print and TWO with Mfd by Apple in perimeter print) DO NOT LIST "Her Majesty" on the side 2 labels. AND all three of these first pressings were issued in poster-board covers that also DO NOT LIST "Her Majesty" in the list of tracks on the rear cover. (Thanks to the "Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Edition" by Perry Cox and Frank Edwards for this information.)
