Description

The Beatles - Abbey Road, 1969 UK 1st pressing.  Stunning!

Run outs (see photos):

YEX 750-1
YEX 749-2

This is a one owner, genuine 1969 UK first pressing of this awesome Beatles album notably omitting "Her Majesty" from the jacket.

Not to beat around the proverbial bush here but the condition of the actual LP can only be described as stunning.  Its hard to actually capture its amazing condition on my camera.  There is absolutely minimal signs of play and describing it as near mint would seem only fair.  Nothing (especially a record) is ever perfect so at an absolute push i can see two very small faint hairline scratches on side A but they give no cause for concern.  Under strong maglite i can make out some very faint hairlining in line with its age but which cant be seen under strong daylight.  The record otherwise truly looks unplayed and may well shame many a brand new pressing you can come across today.

The history backs up the stunning condition.... its only had one owner that being my father who originally acquired it in 1969 and then left it to me when he passed away 10yrs ago.  Im told im just like him so dont consider myself a second owner!  I can say for absolute certainty the LP has had zero olay since 1983 when we moved to our current residence.  Prior to that i cannot attest but with such an amazing example it would appear to have had but a couple of plays before 1983.  It has only ever been stored upright away from heat sources and light.  Naturally from storage theres some aging to the laminate sleeve, notable the spine is crushed but its still completely in tact.  The laminate has resisted peeling almost entirely and the jacket is still very solid and sturdy.  The inner sleeve is a basic paper one and still doing its job.  I will fit a new Nagaoka anti stat to protect the disc further.  But the star of this show is undoubtedly the LP itself and it makes me proud to look at it knowing just how well dad looked after things to see a genuine 51yr old record looking essentially factory fresh.

The only caveat here is we dont have a player to audibly grade the LP on but clearly the stunning condition and inherent quality of Garrods pressings give me absolute faith it will play beautifully, along like the few of the collection we did manage to play.   I havent gone microscopic with my inspection but having been sat safely in one spot it doesnt mean a good clean wouldnt be wise even if it doesnt appear to need one to the naked eye.

The price here then reflects a number of things... the fact its a variant 1 pressing of this highly collectable LP,  the fact its NM in terms of the all important LP itself, the history and provenance even if youre taking my word for this and finally what these records appear to sell for.  Im confident it represents a true opportunity for an avid Beatles/Abbey Road fan, listener or collector to get their hands on what maybe the best example on the market, perhaps even of all.

Shipping will be safely via APC overnight courier and i will pack it with absolute protection to present it as it is now to any new owner.

Thanks for looking.
