Description
It’s time to make some space by listing some more BEATLES and BEATLES-RELATED LPs in nice condition from my vinyl collection. So, please check my other auctions, too.
In this auction:
· “ABBEY ROAD” by the Beatles
· This LP is Apple Records SO 383.
· The Cover is an Apple-marked cover.
· The VINYL has APPLE LABELS with the CAPITOL LOGO in the PERIMETER PRINTING on the SIDE 2 LABEL.
· “Her Majesty” is NOT LISTED on the Side 2 (sliced-Apple) label.
· We know that this is a 1st pressing of “ABBEY ROAD” because:
1) “Her Majesty” is NOT LISTED on the rear cover, and it is NOT LISTED on the label.
2) The label font for the LP title (ABBEY ROAD) and artist (THE BEATLES) is tall and thin.
3) “Recorded in England” is printed at the bottom of both labels.
4) This label style was on copies pressed at Capitol Records’ Winchester pressing plant. The vinyl in this auction has a triangle with a line connected to it on one end etched in the trail-off vinyl. This is the symbol for the Winchester pressing plant, and confirms that this is a Winchester pressing.
5) It was issued in a posterboard cover (with image printed directly onto the posterboard), and the cover DOES NOT LIST “Her Majesty” on the rear.
· THEREFORE, this is the correct cover paired with the correct vinyl for a 1st pressing/issue of “ABBEY ROAD”.
· This LP was released October 1, 1969.
· The COVER is in NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION. It is STILL in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP that has “breathe holes”. (Check the images!) Only very light/slight wear on the cover at the opening where the shrink wrap has receded a bit and very slight wear on the bottom left corner keeps me from grading the cover Near Mint. Very small pieces of the shrink wrap (¼-inch X ½-inch pieces) are missing from the top and bottom corners of the spine.
· The VINYL is graded NEAR MINT MINUS with just a few very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs. There are a couple of minor scuffs on the perimeter of the sliced-Apple label.
· This is a very desirable 1st pressing of the “ABBEY ROAD” LP.
It’s a HARD-TO-FIND 1st PRESSING of this LANDMARK BEATLES LP in REALLY GREAT SHAPE to add to your vinyl collection!!!
