The Beatles Abbey Road Acetate Test
The Beatles 1969 Abbey Rd Acetate Test Pressing.
2 x one-sided disks making up the A and B sides which have been kept together all these years.
Plays very well and actually sounds like a different mix, and also omits Her Majesty at the end.
I have had these for a good number of years so I know they're genuine, they are also banded which is correct for an original acetate pressing. I have tried to do some research in dribs and drabs thru the years but haven't come up with much apart from a search on Popsike which will show an Acetate Captol Sgt Peppers and a couple of others, none of which are Abbey Rd. I actually think they are that rare!
Not sure of the story behind them or why they came into being, but obviously they were sent to or were originally from the US.
I actually forgot I had this tucked away until I saw a similar one on Ebay a few months ago (Rubber Soul i think) and that went for crazy money!
Shall be sent very carefully and with full insurance and signed for. I shall charge only what it costs to send and refund the extra if any.
I have other test pressings to list shortly including a couple EMIDISC singles, Side one of Please Please me Mono Test press ,and another Gold Stereo, so please keep an eye!
Please check out my feedback and bid with confidence.
Over the next few months I shall try to list pretty much my whole Beatle collection including most of the 60's Beatles UK Stereo & Mono LP / Label variations, from Northern Golds & extra 33 1/3's to Sold in the UK Exports & undocumented mispressings. I am not a dealer, just a major Beatlefreak that seriously needs to downsize! If there is any particular pressing that you are missing, please inquire and I shall do my best to list it for you.
As an example as to Labels / Pressings, please checkout my feeble attempt at an up-to-date website showing all the Please Please Me Mono & Stereo labels out there! www.beatlebay.co.uk

I am and have always considered myself a Beatlefreak and collector. I am not a dealer, but have many treasures I've collected over the years that I have now decided to part with.

I have had several emails asking about the mix so I pulled side 2 out and did a spectral analysis of it late last night using audio city and it is definitely different. I would hate to make a false claim that it is a different mix though it does sound different. Also to my shock it does actually have Her Majesty on it (wheras I would have sworn it wasn't last time I listened) so I am going to go with it's the same mix, which actually makes sense as alll the Capitol Acetates had the usual original mix. It may just be mastered brighter or something as I'm not that technical.
