Description
This is a rare example of a very early press UK release of The Beatles Abbey Road LP in near mint condition (PCS 7088) This very early press of the album gives no credit for Her Majesty, this mistake was rectified in later pressings. It also includes the matrix number YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1.
The cover is the original, first issue, fully laminated sleeve in near mint condition. It does not list Her Majesty on the back cover track listing, and the front cover has more of the crossing at the bottom edge of the cover, and includes a portion of a square drain cover positioned on the bottom edge of the cover, beneath Ringo and John's feet. The original photograph was later enlarged to include less of the trees and crossing and a larger image of the beetles.
The cover is still wonderfully glossy and there is very minor creasing to one corner and the spine has only minor wear (1 cm long) to the laminate and the printed wording “Abbey Road, The Beatles, PCS 7088” clearly readable. The back cover is in has no fading, discolouration or tears and only slight creasing in one corner. Graded as excellent-.
The original heavy vinyl LP is in excellent condition but does have a few slight needle marks and it has not been played to test the quality of the sound. The Matrix numbers are YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1 which are only available on this very early press. The matt dark green apple label on side 1 is in near mint condition with only slight spindle marks when viewed under bright light. The label for side 1 is in equally clean condition and both labels clearly show the text “Sold in the U.K.” Graded as near mint.
The white inner sleeve does have a large tear along one side and is graded a good.
This is a rare first press complete LP in excellent condition.
