Description
An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Stampers 7-GDH/5-GGH. Please note the labels make NO mention of 'Her Majesty' as found on all later copies. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover. Also included is an original Apple inner sleeve [the very 1st ones were black - please note]. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In great condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks either side - nothing heavy though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. The audio is impressive with the usual great transparency you expect from these early copies. Interference is, thankfully, both minor and infrequent. All we could detect was a a brief jump in 'Come Together' where you lose the words 'holy roller' and the odd light tick in 'Sun King'. If you can live with that the remainder of the record plays back at an impressive level. A great rendition of one of the Beatles best records.
Cover (Vg+) Has been looked after down the years. Nice shiny front, but showing a touch of laminate in the left and then a few creases mostly over toward the opening. The rear is in great condition too with a few more creases evident at the opening. Edge wear is relatively light. There's a touch oon thespine, but the text is still mostly legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing and no side splits.
