Description

An original 1st press of AR on the UK Apple label from 1969. Matrix 2/1 - very 1st cut. Please note the very 1st AR copies are identifiable by the absence of the 'Her Majesty' credit on the labels. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover, but with the mis-aligned Apple logo on the rear. This, effectively, is the 1st variation to exist for this title. At 1st release they decided to re-align the text and the logo for all future copies. We also have the original black inner sleeve..NOT a reproduction! So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has clearly only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. Probably the finest surfaces I've ever seen on AR - which is quite an accolade! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Anyone familiar with these 1st pressing will know what I mean when I mention that the audio is "dreamy"! It has tremendous warmth and texture resolving all complex and low-key passages with precision and in an assured manner. I will mention that you might pick out a few low-level static crackles in a couple of those ultra low-key spots on side 2...e.g Sun King intros... but it's very minor indeed, and fleeting. This LP plays much much cleaner than most other copies that typically surface. Rest assured that this copy will transport you straight back to '69. It will get you as close as is humanly possible to purchasing a copy on the day of release in Sept 69..and giving it a spin right there and then.
 Cover (Ex/Ex+) Again, the original owner must have been one fastidious individual. The front is pristine looking, flat and with just one thumbnail crease near the opening. The rear looks equally good and I can barely make out a single crease - and there's no laminate lift either. Edge wear is pretty much non-existent and the openings still sharp. There's one tiny 3mm tear at the opening [extremely insignificant]. The corners have not been bumped and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover sits perfectly flat and retains all of its original rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) No splits... but there's a bit of wear at the opening. I have taped up to secure and stop further deterioration.
