Description
An original 1st press of AR on the UK Apple label from 1969. Matrix 2/1 - 1st cut. The TRUE 1st pressing is easily identifiable by the absence of 'HER MAJESTY' after 'The End' on side 2. Worth holding out for a true 1st - they were pressed heavy and the audio is to die for. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by Garrod with the super slim spine. We also have a genuine black Apple inner sleeve with the correct die-cut circle and exposed flip-backs. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. We will ship the LP in a poly-lined inner sleeve for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex+) Holy Moses... I haven't heard one like this for quite sometime. It's one of those very occasional items that has only seen minimal use. Just take a look at the label shots - difficult to comprehend how they have survived in this sort of condition. Mirror like surfaces and labels which clearly allude to only the very lightest use. But does it sound as good as it looks? Read on...Under close inspection I can only make out a bit of super-superficial bag-rash markings. These are going to absolutely no wear near the audio - guaranteed. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with just a couple of slight deviations. Any copy of AR operating up and around the Ex grading is going to impress. But a consistent Ex+ is the holy grail. You're going to get a very lush and well rounded delivery. But on top of this you are going to get treated some outstanding ability to dig really deep into the mix. Hear the intricate percussion with a quiet background - it just adds extra atmosphere. This copy is without a doubt within the best three copies I've witnessed and shows you instantly why these copies are so sought after. Hearing that ultra-fussy 'Here Comes The Sun' opening up beautifully clean - is a serious rarity. You can hear the hands actually shading the strings which is usually so low in the mix as to be unobservable. 'Because' - again a total nightmare to find playing clean - this example plays it like it's a "walk-in-the park". Let's be realistic, here, for a moment. You will detect a few very low-level static crackles in the openings seconds of YNGYM & Sun King. But just finding these two ultra-fussy moments playing this well is a seriously difficult find. I think I detected one slight tick in 'Come Together' - and a further one in I Want You [Low in the mix and not noticeable]. There are so many tricky and intricate moments on side 2 that very few copies will actually deliver what the purist with high standards requires. BUT this copy can do it. A REALISTIC FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Quite frankly a bit of a stunner. Very rarely do you see AR looking this plush and well cared for. The front is almost perfect barring just the slightest record impression and a couple of tiny thumbnail creases. The rear is pretty much a stone cold mint. There's no observable edge wear and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is 100% perfect. Even the corners are not subject to bumps - they are still nice and pointy [this is very unusual]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Truly a lovely looking specimen.
Inner (Ex) In beautiful condition and very very few will be looking this fine. Just a one inch bottom edge split. That's all.
