RARE FIRST PRESSING WITH 'NO HER MAJESTY' LABEL ERROR

Abbey Road, by The Beatles. PCS 7088 - STEREO. This LP is rare for two reasons; one giving full credence to the other. Firstly this is a rare 'First Pressing Error Copy', with the omission of the credit ''Her Majesty'' from the last track on Side Two. The credit reads, ''The End (Lennon-McArtney) Northern Songs NCB'', when it should read, ''The End Her Majesty (Lennon-McArtney) Northern Songs NCB". This is rare without the credit and there is no credit in the sleeve or outer cover either. Whilst all records have the audio track itself, none, oddly, have the credit on the sleeve and only a rare number omit it on the label, with some having a misaligned Apple logo on the sleeve, too. The errors were rectified very quickly during the First Pressing, so to find the error copies in any format is unique in itself.
The ‘rumour’ machine surrounding The Beatles, during this release, began and it was called ‘’The Secret Track’’, but on a few ‘’Secret Records’’! So... the second rare issue is just that; this is a First Pressing, for obvious reasons, as stated. It is a 1969 First Pressing and... it has the dark green Apple on the label on Side One, which in later pressings became a lighter colour, plus it has no ‘Sold in the UK’ on the label; other, later pressings did.
The vinyl, on both sides, has seen played over the 41 years of its life and there are odd scratches, hairlines and a small scuff, but it still plays very well for its age and retains a nice dark lustre to the vinyl, hence its low starting price. It is still a highly playable and collectable record, being a rare 'error' copy. The outer sleeve, which is fully laminated, is Garod & Lofthouse and has the original and quickly changed 'skiny-spine', which is, again, unique to the First Pressings, with later sleeves having a much fuller spine. It is in excellent condition and is unmarked and undamged and no writing anywhere! It has the EMI plain inner white sleeve, which is fully intact.
As usual with The Beatles & EMI it has the Matrix, Mother & Stamper Codes within the run-off areas of the vinyl on both sides and these codes translate its provenance, with Matrix No (Side 1) YEX 749-2, with Mother being '4' and Stamper or Dye being 'MPL' or '468' and the Matrix (Side Two) YEX 750-1 and Mother '5', with Stamper 'APG' or '361'.
Grading is always difficult, but I base mine on experience, as, unlike many who sell, I worked within the audio industry as an analogue Engineer & Producer during the 80's & 90's and I am also a vinyl fan. I try to be fair and honest in reporting what I see and hear, hence the gradings are mine, but based on knowledge. There are, for those who want them, various guides to grading, but I have found them confusing, with over grading and often misleading and are very useful for sellers to hide behind and buyers to use in remorse.
