The Beatles ~ Abbey Road

Very 1st UK Apple Press!

Up for sale is a VERY RARE very first UK Apple pressing of The Beatles~Abbey Road.  The beautiful laminated jacket has the green tint and misaligned apple on the back.  Garrod and Lofthouse printing credits with no flaps on the back.  All of which signify a very first pressing from 1969.  Beautiful readable spine.  Seams are strong with just a slight break at the top.  CATALOG NUMBER: PCS 7088.

The dark green Apple label has the very first label variation with "An E.M.I. Recording" text on 2 lines with a small "33 1/3" text moved to the left side.  Publishing year printed with a small copyright symbol ?.  The label does not have "Her Majesty" credit on Side 2.  The matrix codes in the deadwax are of the very first YEX 749-2/YEX 750-1.  A true rarity!!

Now for the bad news.  While the album visually grades VG+, it does have an edge warp.  I have tried to highlight it in the pictures.  It is approximately 4.5 inches long and goes into the record approximately 3/4 of an inch.  It affects play for the first 1 inch into each side of the record.  It does not skip (at least on my Thorens) but it does produce rumble/distortion.  Not sure if this can be fixed of not.  The rest of the LP plays quite nice with extremely good fidelity.  This is a total bummer for an otherwise outstanding album.  However, this may be a good opportunity for someone to upgrade their jacket if nothing else.
