Up for bid is this stunning 1969 US pressing of The Beatles "Abby Road" on the Apple record label SO 383 still FACTORY SEALED. There are no "Her Majesty " credits listed on the back cover. This LP has been in storage since day one and in mint- condition.
Abby Road was the first Beatles album in America to be packaged with print-on-board covers. These covers involved the process of printing the cover image directly onto white posterboard, which was the folded and glued to form the album jacket. The previous Beatle album covers were constructed by affixing separately printed slicks to cardboard jackets. Capitol's record plants ran out of the first run of the print-on-board covers so they had to go and have another company print some slicks and package them the old way until more print-on-board covers could be made. The front cover image was enlarge to allow for the front slick to be wraped around thr back cover. So there for the picture on the front shows less of the trees and crosswalk and has a larger image of the Beatles.
This album on offer here has one of the covers with the paste on slicks. The cover has four sharp corners and there are no bends, no creases, no cut outs, no saw cuts, no promo holes, and no ring wear. The factory shrinkwrap is 100% intact with no rips, no tears, and no slits. There are two breathe holes in the shrink on the front. It is very rare to see an original copy of this very sought after Beatles title in this outstanding condition. Please take a look at the other LPs that I have for sale on ebay.
